This is getting routine, perfect mornings (I didn't see a vehicle for the first hour I was on The Trace this morning) hot afternoons. I didn't shoot lots of pictures today because it all looks the same. Like how many pictures can you take of a two lane tree-lined road wandering through beautiful countryside?Stopped at rest stop on the Pearl River and met Monte Young a bicyclist heading north. Sorry I didn't get a better picture, Monte. You see a goodly number of these die hards. My butt and nether region don't let me do it. If they truly made a comfortable anatomically correct seat, would be a different story. Monte said the same thing an old gent I talked to on the Blue Ridge Parkway, they do it because they enjoy it pain and all.
Well, here I am in Natchez having completed the main objective of this part of the trip, riding the Skyline Drive, Blue Ridge Parkway and, Natchez Trace Parkway. Interesting note, I paid $15 to ride the 105 miles of The Skyline Drive but not a penny for the 465 miles of Blue Ridge Parkway and 445 miles of Natchez Trace Parkway. It's not like there is anything special or unique about the Skyline Drive except the surrounding population density and affluence.
From here it is over towards the Hill Country of Texas. I was told by a couple of motorcycle riders on the Blue Ridge that it would border on criminal if I didn't see this area while in Texas. I see on The Weather Channel that there is still rain to the west but it appears to be mainly in the form of afternoon showers/thunder showers. This pattern will apparently continue through Thursday. I can deal with that. The only schedule I have is to meet Connie in San Antonio next Saturday. San Antonio is probably only 500 or 600 miles away. Sooooo, this will be a lay day in Natchez. Oh, did I mention they have a casino down on the Mississippi. "Oooo Mama, come to Papa. C'mon dealer, this here shirt is worth at least $50. Alright then, my kids are good for it."
We'll have an update here tonight.
